Después de todos los años de trabajo junto a la comunidad en Boca de Camarones, y sobre todo, del esfuerzo permanente de Elainer uno de nuestros Embajadores estrella, el 5 de Octubre llegó el camión con todos los materiales necesarios para iniciar la construcción… no sabíamos cómo se iba a ver y teníamos las expectativas por las nubes… 7 días después ya estaba sobre la tierra seca de la región, la primera biblioteca del futuro en Colombia, nuestro SOLE LAB.
Volamos para ver ese espectáculo el 19 de Octubre. Elainer nos esperaba y cuando nos saludamos nos abrazamos con la complicidad de haber logrado un proyecto en conjunto… estábamos expectantes, ya queríamos ver el domo.

Finalmente, llegamos al lugar y el SOLE LAB brillaba tanto con el sol que se reflejaba sobre las placas de Tetra Pack, parecía una especie de nave espacial en medio de las casas de la comunidad, ¡Tenían razón todos los que ya le habían puesto apodos como la casa de Goku, nave espacial con ventilación cruzada y otros más!
Entramos al domo, lo recorrimos y nos pusimos manos a la obra. Teníamos el gran día de la inauguración por delante. Buscamos algunos materiales que hacían falta para amoblar el espacio, algunas luces, unas canastas y un letrero que sí diera cuenta de su verdadero nombre. Mientras acomodamos todo el espacio, Elainer fue a buscar a los participantes del SOLE y nos dijo que nos tenía una sorpresa.
sLlegaron las 4 de la tarde y los invitados empezaron a recordar y dibujar sus primeras memorias de infancia, la perfecta antesala para hacer el recuento del viaje que SOLE Colombia y la comunidad de Boca de Camarones habían emprendido en conjunto desde 2015. Elainer era el gestor del Kiosko Vive Digital, el mismo que luego cerraron en 2018 y la motivación para hacer este SOLE Lab, primero en 2019 y finalmente ahora. Esta historia fue la clave para reconocer la persistencia voluntaria de Elainer y su comunidad. Antes de iniciar con el SOLE, Elainer nos contó que la sorpresa era un baile tradicional wayuu para inaugurar este nuevo espacio. Dio algunas palabras y ¡la fiesta empezó! Todos conectamos con el baile, aplaudimos y nos emocionamos con ese momento tan conmovedor.

La gran pregunta que nos hicimos fue: ¿Por qué tenemos memoria y recordamos?
Les pedimos a los niños que dibujaran su primer recuerdo y luego por grupos discutimos y buscamos la posible solución a esta gran pregunta. Todos aprendimos usando el internet en grupo que la memoria es necesaria para vincularnos con nuestro entorno, para seguir creciendo y para formar nuestra personalidad como individuos.
etFue hermoso ver en carne propia que las relaciones que construimos y cuidamos son la suma de lo que somos y hacemos en SOLE COLOMBIA. Después de 7 años logramos crear un espacio para que la necesidad de cuestionar y aprender siga floreciendo en más personas, incluso en quienes no tienen acceso a internet. Una vez más, reafirmamos que SOMOS el intercambio con otros y otras, no una organización aislada que posee todo el conocimiento, sino UNA que crea y se expande colectivamente.

After all the years of work with the community in Boca de Camarones and the permanent effort of Elainer, one of our star Ambassadors in La Guajira, we saw finally the truck with all the necessary materials to start the construction on octuber 5th... we did not know how it was going to look like and our expectations were skyly high... 7 days later it was already on the dry land of the region, THE FIRST LIBRARY OF THE FUTURE, our SOLE LAB.
We flew to see this spectacle on October 19th. Elainer was waiting for us and when we saw each other we hugged with the complicity of having achieved a project together... we were expectant, we wanted to see the dome.
Finally, we arrived at the place and the SOLE LAB shine so brightly with the sun that the light reflected on the Tetra Pack plates, it looked like a kind of spaceship in the middle of the houses of the community. All those who had already given it nicknames such as Goku's house, spaceship with cross ventilation and others were right!
We entered to the dome, toured it and got down to work. We had the big opening day ahead of us. We looked for some materials that were needed to furnish the space, some lights, some baskets and a sign that would give away its real name. While we were setting up the space, Elainer went to look for the SOLE participants and told us he had a surprise for us.
Four o'clock in the afternoon arrived and the guests began to reminisce and draw their first childhood memories, the perfect prelude to recount the journey that SOLE Colombia and the Boca de Camarones community had undertaken together since 2015. Elainer was the manager of the Kiosko Vive Digital, the same one they later closed in 2018 and the motivation to make this SOLE Lab, first in 2019 and finally now. This story was the key to recognize the voluntary persistence of Elainer and his community. Before starting with the SOLE, Elainer told us that the surprise was a traditional Wayuu dance to inaugurate this new space. He gave a few words and the party started! We all connected with the dance, clapped and were moved by this touching moment.
The big question we asked ourselves was: how do we remember and why do we forget? We asked the children to draw their first memory and then in groups we discussed and searched for the possible solution to this big question. We all learned using the internet as a group that memory is necessary to link us with our environment, to keep growing and to form our personality as individuals.
It was beautiful to see in the flesh that the relationships we build and take care of are the sum of what we are and do in SOLE COLOMBIA. After 7 years we managed to create a space were the need to question and learn can flourish in more people, even those who do not have access to the internet. So the internet can be a posibility to re-empowering communities, the autonomy in individuals and a open space were everyone can connect and growth with others. Once again, we reaffirm that we ARE the exchange with others, not an isolated organization that possesses all the knowledge, but ONE that creates and expands collectively.
